Microsoft Office 2007 Manual Uninstall Help

I know this question gets asked again and again and again, but I a
about ready to pull my hair out. I have searched the internet up an
down for clear and concise instructions in the event problems are ru
into during the manual uninstall of Microsoft Office 2007. Well, I'v
run into problems and -nothing- is working.

I'll start from the beginning. About a week ago, I realized I couldn'
get into Microsoft Word or Excel; it gave me the 'This update packag
could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that yo
can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this i
a valid Windows Installer update package' error. I brushed it of
thinking it would disappear, but a week later it was still popping up.
have no idea why it started doing this because I didn't just recentl
install Office 2007 nor did I upgrade it from a previous version.
installed it on my laptop November of 2008, so it's been a few months
The programs just stopped working out of the blue.

Thinking I should reinstall it, I tried uninstalling Office 2007 usin
the add/remove programs utility and was unable. After lurking around o
the web trying to figure out what to do next, I came across a solutio
on Microsoft's website:

'How to uninstall the 2007 Office system if you cannot uninstall it b
using the \"Add or Remove Programs\" feature
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218)

I followed the steps provided by Microsoft's website to manuall
uninstall Microsoft Office 2007, but could not uninstall one of the .ms
files. It was 628be5.msi with subject 'Microsoft Office Home and Studen
2007.' I was able to uninstall all the .msi files except for this on
and I know that's part of my problem. I get the 'Preparing to remove...
window followed by an error window and the noise that now triggers m
hidden violent side. Error says: 'This patch package could not b
opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it
or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Window
Installer patch package.'

I also looked up how to deal with this 'patch package' problem o
Microsoft's support website, but they only offered solutions in the for
of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility and unfortunately for me, thi
utility cannot be used with Office 2007.

The other problem is that I cannot for the life of me locate th
MSOCache folder. I did as was instructed and displayed hidden an
protected operating system files & folders, yet MSOCache is stil
nowhere to be found on the hard drive. Strangely enough though, when
reviewed the SetupExe(200903272312131344) log in Temp after -another
failed install of Office 2007, it displayed that packages had bee
installed to folders within C:\MSOCache. So apparently it's there,
just can't see it!

I'm really not sure what to do at this point. I've gone over the entir
manual uninstall process from start to finish (with the exception o
deleting files from the MSOCache folder - had to skip over that) -three
times to make sure I didn't miss anything, and I still can't get Offic
2007 to install.

Any help you can provide would be -extremely- appreciated! Please an
thank you! :
