Microsoft Office 2007 over Microsoft Office 2002?

I currently have Microsoft Office 2002. I am thinking about upgrading to Office
2007. I'm not sure that I have a fully licensed product so I think that I will
buy the Office 2007 Professional full version (pricey). If I do this, do I need
to completely uninstall 2002 first?

May I ask for a little clarity? You're not sure if you have a fully licensed
version - why don't you know? You either purchased it or not.

I worked for a company that gave us a home copy of Office, so it's registered to

issue.

Maybe not on your current computer but if/when you get another computer, you
will no longer have a qualifying product.

So, with my current computer, if I buy the full version of Office 2007, do I
need to uninstall Office 2002?

I read in another thread that Microsoft was no longer offering Office 2007 for
XP. If that is true, then I guess that I will have to wait until I buy another
computer.

You misread something. Office 2007 will run on XP, period. I would suggest
uninstalling the older version before you install the newer one.

There's only one version of Office 2007 and it can be installed on Windows
XP or Windows Vista. I suspect the confusion lies in the name of the version
of Office you are currently using, which is Office XP-- not Office 2002. The
individual applications use '2002' in their names but the entire suite uses
'XP' in its name.
