Microsoft Office 2007 Won't Launch

I recently bought Microsoft Office2007 Home and Student. When I went to
install it, it seemed to install fine, but when i tried to open Word it
didn't work. So then I tried to open Excel, PowerPoint and One Note, but none
of them opened. When I click on it to open, it flashes the hour glass and
then does nothing. I have Uninstalled it and Reinstalled it three times now,
I've tried repairing it through the Add/Remove programs thing. I installed
service pack 2 or whatever it is and a couple other updates. I tried using
diagnostics, but it seems to have found no problem. please help me. I'm not
very computer savvy so I need instructions on how to do whatever you need me
to do.

Are you using Vista as your operating system? Have you tried running the
Applications as Administrator?

I'm using XP. and Yes, I'm on an administrator's account.

Is this a new computer and was there a trial version of Office already
installed?

It's not new, its a couple years old, but a few months ago I had the trial
version on here, but I deleted it when it expired.

Sounds to me you might have a borked install.
Uninstall it, do a disk cleanup, i.e. empty all the temp folders, re boot
and then do a new install. Might be an idea to disconnect from the internet
and disable your AV program as well.

I've done that already.

After you "Start" an application, say Word. If you look in Task Manager,
do you see it listed as a running task on the applications tab, and if
not, look and see if it (WinWord.exe) shows up in Processes.

I recently Installed Microsoft office standard 2007 (WORD, EXCELL,
POWERPOINT, Outlook) on my VISTA machine. My problem was it installed
everytime I opened one of the programs. After many days (and twice as many
opinions), I contacted Microsoft Suppot ( [email protected] )
and after many emails and "transfers" to higher levels (in India) they
advised to use the telephone support at (800) 936-5700. It was then also
"raised" several levels until I got the expert who sked permission to assume
control of my computer and fixed the issue in 2 hours. After a long
explanation, the only thing I remember is that "several registry keys had
incorrect PERMISSION settings. I recommend you contact Microsoft Support
directly. It will save you lots of time and frustations.

Since it isn't throwing any errors and nothing shows on the task
manager, I'm thinking you may want to follow the MS support suggestion
others made. Retail copies give you 90 days support so you may want to
go that route.
