As you discovered, Excel does not open Works spread sheet files. To open
the file you need to install Works. Do not install the Word program
contained in the Works Suite. After you open the file in Works, save it in
a Text file (*.csv) that Excel can open. After you open the *.csv file in
Excel, done the likely reformatting, you can save it as a Excel file.
You can then either delete or leave the Works program. There is no
compatibility problem with leaving Works installed. So, it is your choice.
You should not install the Word version can came with your Works Suite as it
a much older version than Word 2007.
