Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack

I have tried to install the compatibility pack for Office 2003 so I can open
Office 2007 files. The installation always fails. I have Live Update
enabled, and previously installed all critical updates including Office 2003
SP3. I am running XP. Any suggestions?

Is there an error message when it fails?

For me ,Yes. Msg. was after commanding downloaded compatability pack to
"run". It stated that the program wasn't Win32 compatable.

Exact wording of message: C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\FileFormatConverters.exe is not a valid Win32 application

I, too, am not able to load "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats." This, after loading
FileFormatConverts.exe.

I click Run and I receive the following error message: "The installation of
this package failed."

Overly complicated. Overly frustrating. What else is new.
