A trial version is a time limited version for use to find out if you want
it - after the trial expires, you have the option to purchase it. If you
decide not to purchase, then the functionality is disabled and everything
becomes read-only.

An alternative to purchasing MS Office would be Open Office. Open Office is
free and will allow you to view, edit, create spreadsheets. Of course Open
Office is not for everyone but its a nice (and free) alternative to MS
Office. I use Open Office personally as it does what I need.
Of course for support purposes I still need to brush up on MS Office.

More information on open office can be found at www.openoffice.org.

Open Office is free and it pretty much does what MS Office does. As I said
its not for everyone but accomodates most people's needs. I never said
"should" or "would" use it, merely an individual should look at what there
is out there and make an informed decision based on facts. Don't you agree
with that?

As for the second question, sorry I had the wrong post highlighted when I
hit reply. Didn't know it'd bring down the NG servers though. ;-)

Have a great day Milly.
