Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 - attempts to start up with errors on restarting my PC

I am running Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 with WinXp (all
supplied by Dell 3 years ago) and all the usual Microsoft auto upgrades
enabled. I run AVG v8 and Win Defender (all latest versions)

It has worked OK for 3 years but suddenly I get an error message that
PowerPoint and Excel both encountered a problem when I re-boot my PC and can
not start properly. I answer no to whether I want to start them in Safe Mode
but they open OK anyway and I have to close them.

I have the usual Microsoft Office utility in the start-up folder of the
Start button but am not aware that this does anything.

I do not start these programs at all but they seem to try and start up by
themselves.

How do I stop this happening.

Thanks

Graham

Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Office 2003 > highlight > change
and you should be given an option to repair the installation of Office.

I have used the repair option which said it work successfully, but
unfortunately the same thing happens each time I start up on my PC.

Is there anything else I should do?
