Microsoft Office Project

The Wonderer

I was wondering if Microsoft Office Project is for me. I need to produce
professional reports from Excel and Access documents. Also, I need to create
some sort of a timeline showing where the project is at. And, if project is
the software I need, then, since i already have Windows Vista; do I have to
purchase the whole project software or shouldn't I be able to purchase just
the Project software, and not the excel and access that come with it? Thanks

Wonderer,
It sounds like you are only considering Project to make pretty schedule
pictures. That's not what Project is about. Of course Project can create
timelines but you may find it doesn't have the graphic flexibility you
want and the learning curve can be a little steep. I suggest you
consider a graphics application if you want to create timeline pictures
(e.g. Visio).

Your last sentence makes no sense. Microsoft Project is an application
just like Excel, Word, Access, etc. Vista is an operating system just
like Windows XP, Windows 2000, etc. Depending on which version of
Microsoft Office you have or buy, it will include Excel, Word,
PowerPoint, Access and a few other office applications, but it will not
include Project. Project is a stand alone application. Although it is
advertised as being part of the "Office Suite", Project does not come
bundled with Office nor does Project include any other applications.

Hi,

From what you give, I can't really be sure whether Project is what you need
or not. Prohject can definitely do much more than what you ask fpr here.
OTOH, Nothing comes with a project licence, not Excel, Not Access. A Project
Licence gives you Project, full stop.

Hope this helps,
