Microsoft Office Standard Edition Trial Version

I'm trying to uninstall the trial version of Microsoft Office Standard
Edition 60 day Trial Version; I already have the Microsoft Office Home
Edition. I installed the trial version to check out PowerPoint. I do not
want to purchase it yet, when I tried to uninstall the trial version, it
wiped out all of my own MicroSoft Office Home Edition files and folders. I
had to restore my system to an earlier date to recover my information. If I
unistall my version of Home Edition, then reinstall it will I lose all of my
information? Help Please!

There is no such thing as Office Home Edition so I don't understand your
question.

Hello JoAnn Paules, sorry for the confusion. I purchased my computer last
year. I am a first time home computer owner. I meant to say I have Windows
XP Home Edition, and that I have Microsoft Office Basic Edtion 2003. I only
installed the trial version to try out PowerPoint because it did not come
with my purchased software. When I tried to uninstall the trial version, I
lost all of my own information in MS Office Basic Edition 2003. Is it safe
to uninstall and reinstall my version without losing my files? (ex-resume
etc...) I tried to uninstall the trial version after it expired; but, it
keeps trying to reinstall itself over and over again! Your thoughts please!
Thx.

I thought Home Edition was something that Microsoft's big corporate
customers could buy/license and then give/sell to their employees.

i.e., I think it does exist, but it's not available to the general public,
only through an employer.

I would STRONGLY suggest backing up those files. I've heard there are
difficulties with uninstalling the trial version. I have a friend who just
purchased a system and the first thing I did was to uninstall it because I
was putting Office XP Pro on her system I didn't want to deal with the kind
of problems you're having.

Search the archives for suggestions. I know this has been discussed many
times before.

If you're referring to the "Home Use Program" or "Work at Home
Program", which are available to volume license and academic
agreement customers, then neither could be correctly referenced
as "Home Edition". Please don't further confuse the confused.

Hello Again JoAnn Paules, Thank you for your response. your advice sounds
good to me, however, we are talking about a lot of files! Is there a way
that I can back up the whole file on one disc for example. I am very afraid
to do this. Right now, I'm just clicking cancel when the Standard Edition
tries to reinstall itself! I have created so many documents; that It would
take forever to back up the whole program. Do you think that Microsoft has
any information on their website that would assist me with this problem. I
now feel like trying the trial version wasn't such a good idea. Your
additional thoughts, or anyone else that can help please!
Thx.

Depending on the program you use to burn CDs, it might only take a few
minutes. My system is 5½ yrs old and it would take it longer to actually
burn the disk than it would for me to select the files I wanted to back up.

And you're not backing up the "programs", you're backing up the documents
you created with them.

You're probably going to get more help if you read the Help file with your
CD burning software than if you go to MS in this case.

I'm confused, but it would seem to me;
Backup all Office data, uninstall all Office, then reinstall the version you
have the licence for
