Microsoft Office will not open

When I go to open Microsoft Office it will not open. It gets stuck and it
unresponsive. it will ask if I want to open it in safe mode but when I try
that it still gets stuck and will not open. What can I do?

What version of Office, and specifically in which Office application
(Word, Excel, etc.) does this problem occur?
