Microsoft Office/Word 2000 and Microsoft Works Add-In

I have Microsoft Office 2000 with Microsoft Word 2000.
I recently also installed Microsoft Works 2003 which
included "Microsoft Works Add-In for Word". It seems
that since then I have not bee able to do: highlight-
click copy-and then paste when in a Word document.
(I am not talking about using the clipboard for copying
and pasting.)

1)Are these two installations conflicting with one
another?
2) If so, should I uninstall the "Microsoft Works Add-In
for Word"?

Unless you find something useful in the Add-In, I would recommend
uninstalling it. Also, you should check the option to prompt to save changes
to normal in the:
Tools > Options > Save dialog.

1. Yes, clearing the Clipboard is only one of the many nasty habits of the
Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word.

2. Yes. Uninstall it through Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. This will
not affect the functionality of Word or Works run freestanding. The only
functionality you will lose is the ability to start Word from the Works Task
Launcher and to start a Word mail merge from within Works or use a Works
database or address book as a data source for a Word merge. You also lose a
lot of special Word templates that are part of Works. For the most part, you
will not miss any of these features (and you'll be grateful not to have
Works add a Mail Merge entry to your Tools menu every time you run Word).
