You may have missed the option to create the shortcuts, or
clicked someting unknowingly that kept them from being made.
Use Explorer to Search for winword.exe file. When
you find it, highlight it with your mouse, and right click
on it.
Then in the drop down menuy that appears, select Send To
and then select Desktop (create a Shortcut) or words similar
to that; not sure I remember them exactly.
Now you have an icon to use at last to start it. Next you
can use Start ; Settings ; Taskbar and Start Menu, and drag
your new icon into that menu. I think you'll know where it
belongs when you see it.
