Microsoft Only HTML Formatting - What Is This?

Can anybody tell me what setting or feature in Office XP generates the
following style with an insertion.

style="mso-style-type:export-only

<ins cite="mailto:Cycle%202" datetime="2005-01-10T07:59
style="mso-style-type:export-only;text-decoration:none;">

We are generating per page checksums based on the HTML and this particular
style is generating differences.
