Microsoft OUtlook-deleting hardf to delete records

I have an email sitting in my outbox that I will not delete. I then always
get a message when I exit, asking if I would like to send mail from my outbox
and then sets off a timer. Can anyone offer any suggestions for deleting
this mail?

Click File and check Work Offline. Stop and restart Outlook. Delete the
message. Click File and uncheck Work Offline.
