Microsoft product misrepresentation

S

Sean Bryant

Why does Microsoft claim that Office is the best product
on the basis that "all programs work the same" - IN
CONTRAST TO COMPETING PRODUCTS?? This is a lie. Office
products work together NO BETTER than any other products,
whether from one non-Microsoft source or mixed sources.
Why does <Ctrl>+<Tab> work differently in Word and Excel?
Why can you preview from the Print window of Excel but not
Word? Why can you show or suppress taskbar icons for each
Excel document, but you MUST have ALL Word documents show
on taskbar?
Finally, how can Microsoft get away with making it so damn
hard to contact them and notify them of product defects as
described above? Why do they have to make it so bloody
expensive just to ask - even politely - my main question
about Office products all working the same?
Obviously they can get away with it because they are a
monopoly that has the country by something-or-other.

I'd like to see precisely where you found the statements that "all
programs work the same". I have not found such a statement.

Also, many of your comments are not educated comments. You can modify
the application interface from MDI (one task on the taskbar) to SDI
(each document displays as a task on the taskbar) in Word. For Word
2000 you need an add-in but for current versions there is an option
available. (In this scenario, Microsoft did respond to user complaints
and made the necessary modifications.)

I don't follow the Ctrl + Tab statement. What is function does this
command perform, or supposed perform, in the applications?? (In Word
it creates a tab, in Excel it does nothing.)

You have a valid point about the Print dialog box. I would be nice to
see the Preview command available in all of the applications.
