Microsoft Project Server Trial Installation

Hi,

I am trying to install Microsot Project Server 2007 Trial version on a
standalone server. The server had Sharepoint services 2.0, which I upgraded
to 3.0 and then installed MOSS trial version. When i run the setup file I get
an error which says 'Microsoft Office Server Trial Edition products may not
installed on a with licensed Microsoft Office Server products.....'. I am not
sure how to proceed as I do not have any such products on this server. P.S. I
am running a licensed version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with Reporting and
Analysis Services.

Hi Prashant,

Are you trying to install trail version on single machine? Windows
SharePoint Services 3.0 is already part of the Project Server trail
version installation process.
I guess, the reason of the error might be, installation process was
detected there was already Windows SharePoint 3.0 exists on the same
machine. I am not sure, how you can bypass your installation step to
proceed further.

In my opinion, you can choose one of the options from below to Project
Server 2007 install trail version.

1) If your SQL Server is on separate machine, install Project Server
on SQL machine. (Single Server Farm Installation. You already have
license of SQL Server, I hope it will be okay to install Advance
installation. Please check with Microsoft on licensing.)

2) If your SQL Server is on same machine where MOSS trail version
installed, Install Project Server trail version on new machine and
connect to your licensed SQL Server machine ( Farm installation on two
servers)

Chak,

Thanks for your prompt response. Yes I was trying to instal the trial
version a single machine, and the same machine has the licensed SQL Server
Install. So what I understand from your response is that the MOSS install
might be causing issues (even if it is also a trial version) and that I
should just install Project Server on a seperate machine. I am not sure if I
can get any more servers to play with but I am going to try. Is there
anything else I can do to get it working on the same machine i.e. SQL
Server(licensed), MOSS (Trial) and Project Server (Trial) all on the same
machine?

Thanks again for your reply!!
