Microsoft update "Open XML file format converter for Mac 1.1.3"won't take!

M

Michael Levin

Running Office 2004 on a 10.4.11 machine. The Microsoft AutoUpdate service
is telling me I need to download the Microsoft update "Open XML file format
converter for Mac 1.1.3". I do, and it installs with no errors, but the
AutoUpdate thing still says I need it! Why doesn't it ever know I already
have it and stop suggesting it?

The updater is probably seeing another copy of the file on another partition
that needs updating.

Hmmm. The other partitions are listed in red (not eligible to install on);
how do I make this go away?

Thanks,

Mike

I'm seeing this here as well on a couple of other machines that had
previous versions of the XML converter installed (on machines that have
both Office 2004 and Office 2008 installed at least...)

This sounds like a bug in the MAU.

The other odd thing about this installer -- which also seems like a bug
-- is that after you install this, it changes the ownership of:

/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office Converter Support

from "root" to whatever admin account is on your machine.

Sounds like an untested release to me...

There are no extra partitions on this drive as suggested by Diane in
another post.
