Following installation of Service Pack 3 for MS Office 2003 once we launch a
Word Template we get an assertion failure. Any ideas why?

Can you please open Word and go to Help|About and double-check which version
of Word you're using?

Also, can you please give us the exact text of the error message?

There is no such thing as Service Pack 3 for Office 2003. Do you
mean Service Pack 2 for Office 2003? If yes, is Dorland's or
Spellex medical spellchecker installed on the computer? If yes,
then try turning off the medical spellchecker in Tools | Options
| Spelling & Grammar | Speller type: Normal | OK. If that fixes
the problem, then contact Elsevier or Spellex to see if there is
a program update available.

Thanks - yes Service pack 2, spellex and have asked for update. You are a

Thanks for reply - Garfield & Odie sorted me - I have a spellchecker
installed for which I will need to get an upgrade... Was actually Service
pack 2 that I installed so ref to sp3 caused a bit of confusion!

Glad to hear G&O got it sorted for you! Thanks for letting us know.

We have worked closely with Microsoft to provide the following fix to
the Service Pack 2 problems you recently reported. We have
successfully compiled a new spelling DLL which will no longer create
the scoring.CPP error you received.

Please click on the link below and follow the instructions to download
and install the Office 2003 Service Pack 2 Fix on your computer:

***** Be sure to close ALL Microsoft programs prior to proceeding *****

Office 2003 Service Pack 2 Fix:

1. Select the "Save" option when downloading and not "Open" or "Run
from Current Location" as these options will cause the installation to
fail.

2. You will be asked where you would like to save the file. We
suggest you download the file to your Desktop which will create an icon
there.

3. Once the download has completed, simply double click on the new
icon on your Desktop

4. When the "WinZip Self-Extractor" window appears, select the
"UnZip" button

5. You will receive a message that says "1 file(s) unzipped
successfully"

If anyone needs additional assistance, please contact
(e-mail address removed) and we will be happy to assist you.
