Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error

I use Windows XP home with Office XP (2002). Recently I can't open MSWord and
I get the following message.

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error Library: Runtime Error! Program:C\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office 10\ WINWORD.EXE. This application has requested
the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Word runs perfectly well if I log on as a different user, but won't run when
I log in as myself (administrator).
Any ideas on how to solve this?

I had already tried this with no success. The problem is I can't get the
application to start. Troubleshoot Method 1: When I run winword / a, the
application starts in 'safe' mode and I can't access the 'customize command.
Method 2: There are no COM Add-ins. Method 3: Did this but didn't help.
I've tried to repair the installationa but this also didn't help. Is is
worth uninstallaling Office and re-installing?

this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in a unusual way
c:/program files/microsoft office/WinWord.exe

I have tried everything. Unstall/ renaming exe file to something else and
reinstall. Re did all the updates. Did anyone get your file to open. I
really do not want to do format the computer and start over.
