I wonder why that limitation is an issue. What kind of a document needs more
than that?

Why, a 32,728 page one, of course. ;-)

If it were 32767 it'd make a bit more sense. From the VBA help file:

"Integer variables are stored as 16-bit (2-byte) numbers ranging in value from
-32,768 to 32,767."

If Word's using an integer (seems unlikely) or has old code that limits the
number of pages to the max value an integer can carry, that'd explain it.

True, if it had been 32767, then it would
have been a datatype(integer) issue.

But, here it seems to be 32,728 :-(

Just eager to know the reason behind
this 'number of pages' limitation .
Any ideas ?

On my Vista 32 SP2 with Office 2003 I have a limit of 32766 pages, 2007 I
have a limit of 32768 pages as I just ran a test on them. But I can
actually insert more pages with Office showing an error and it then corrupts
the temporary Word file created each time a file is opened or created. The
saved file is also corrupted. Go figure.
