Microsoft Word 2003 fails to open

After clicking anything that would Open MS Word 2003, the window appears that
says the version and stuff like that, then, it stops loading and the little
window freezes. There are no other effects except that i can't logout from my
Windows session without a hard shutdown.

I work on a Dell Dimension Desktop with a Windows XP operating system.if you
need any other system notes, tell me and i'll do my best to post them, but
only if it's directly pertinent to the problem.

OK, from that site, the best suggestion it gives me can't be done. after a
few minutes of Navigating the Microsoft Office mess in Windows explorer, i
finally found the STARTUP folder. However, there's nothing in it. The site
told me to move this stuff to another folder, and there's nothing to move! so
do i need to restore the missing files, and, if so, HOW?, or is there
something else i should try?

Word has two startup folders. The OFFICE startup folder and the one set
under:
Tools > Options > File Locations

In addition, you can have COM add-ins that are not in either.

The problem is not with Word, itself, but with poorly-written software
intended to work with Word.
