Microsoft Word 98 has virus in Basic

When I open a WORD file a box appears: Microsoft Visual
Basic. underneath is Compile error and Syntax error. If I
click OK in this box, beneath that is a larger box which
says it's a Magan_Macro Code.

It means I can't e-mail any of these documents because
they have a virus in them, at least that's what AOL tells
me.

WHAT CAN I DO??
I am not a very good computer person. Please make this
simple..

Invest in a good Anti Virus utility, make sure that it is completely up to
date and then use it to make a manual scan of ALL FILES. By default, AV
software usually on scans 'default' files: that is files that are known to
be bearers of viruses. If you already have a virus, you need to scan using
the all file option because the macro has obviously moved on to different
files.
