Microsoft Word "Locked out"

Just yesterday my Mircosoft Word 2007 locked out on me, and I can no longer
type or edit any documents. This message appears, "This modification is not
allowed because the selection is locked". I have tried to use the product key
from the box but it is rejected every time. Some help would be great, thanks.

Maybe you have a trial version of Office 2007, and the trial period has
ended. Or maybe you have not activated your Office software.

What happens if you start Word 2007 and click on Office Button | Word
Options | Resources | Activate? If you are already activated, a dialog
box saying so will appear. If you are not activated, the Activation
Wizard will start. If you have an expired trial version, a dialog box
will prompt you to enter a valid product key or convert (purchase a key)
online.

Ok, I tried to activate it and when I put in my original code, it said that
it was invalid. What steps do you think I should take to get a new working
code? Or is there another way to fix it?
thanks again

Did Office 2007 come preinstalled on your new computer, or did you
purchase Office 2007 separately? If it came with your computer, then
your "original code" is probably a free trial version product key, which
only works for a limited time. You cannot use the free trial version
indefinitely. You fix it by visiting your favorite conventional or
online retailer, purchasing Office 2007, uninstalling the free trial
version from your computer, and installing your purchased version using
the DVD and product key that come in the Office 2007 retail box. You
may be given the option to convert (purchase with a credit card) online
to a perpetual license, but you'll probably get a better price plus the
installation DVD if you go to a retailer or e-tailer.
