Microsoft Word Problem

This morning I opened my computer and opened Microsoft
Word to get a blank document to prepare a letter. When I
click on the icon it opened but it had a letter that I
prepared on Wednesday, which had been named and closed. No
matter what I do delete, clear or whatever that letter
comes up when I open word, what can I do to correct this
