Microsoft Works 2007

Hello,
I am unable to open any Works documents; i.e. Task Launcher, Spreadsheet,
etc. Each time I attempt to open them I get the following message: "This
application has failed to start because WkWhl.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I received the same
message only stating that "WkWinUni.dll" was not found. In reading other
messages regarding Works I see it is suggested Works be un-installed and
re-installed, which still may not work. Silly question...isn't Works a part
of the Office 2007 Suite or is it a separate disk which is not familiar to
me? I have also tried opening Works on my notebook and get the same errors,
so it doesn't seem to be specific to my PC. Also, I ran the diagnostics on
my PC and the report was that everything is working just fine. Hmmm. Thank
you so much for your help and I do hope I have explained this problem well
enough for you to understand what I need.

Thank you, JoAnn for the prompt response. I obviously was not aware that
Works is not a part of Office. That being said, if it needs to be
un-installed and re-installed, and I don't have a separate disk, how do I
accomplish the re-install? Needless to say, I have not removed Microsoft
Works, but apparently some of the .dll extensions have "disappeared." Again,
any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Not having a separate disk, would tend to indicate a OEM installation,
so contact the computer vendor tech support to determine the best course
of action.

The point is your question is off-topic in this newsgroup. You'd have
a better chance of getting an answer if you post in the
microsoft.public.works.win newsgroup,

http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.works.win

The people who follow this newsgroup, microsoft.public.office.misc,
are nearly all Microsoft Office users. Few if any of them are likely
to be Works users as well. If you want advice from other Works users
who may actually have first hand experience handling your problem, you
should post in a Works-specific newsgroup like the one given in the
url above.

Hello Harlan,
I have always been a firm believer in that we learn something new each day
and I thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I will follow your
suggestion. I also want to thank each of you who took your time to assist
me. For those of us who have "a little knowledge," we can always use
more...thank you!
