the autocorrect and spellcheck for my word x service release 1 do not
seem to be working properly. when i mispell a word the autocorrect
does not correct it yet it seems to be set up correctly. when i select
"spelling and grammar...." under the tools header, incorrect spelling
is not found and i receive the following message:

"The spelling and grammar check is complete. Text set to(no proofing)
was skipped. To find (no proofing) text, click Edit/Replace, click
More, click Format, click language and choose (no proofing).

i try to follow the steps given in the message but once i select
"edit", then "replace" there isn't a "more" selection available.

i'm not sure if it matters but the document was originally produced
using a pc version of word.

how do i get the spellcheck and autocorrect to work properly for this
document?

thanks in advance for any help.

Have you checked what language your document is in? You might find that the
document is set for ³no proofing² or for ³UK English² when it should be ³US
English² (or Australian English).

If it is set to ³no proofing² as your email indicates, then you should set
it to the language of your Word dictionary.

Sometimes some paragraphs are set to a language, but others are set to ³no
proofing², so I suggest you select the entire document (Command+a - though
you probably know this) then change the language settings.
