Microsoft XP Compatibility With Office 95 Upgraded to Office 97

W

Wright Brunson

I plan to buy a new computer with Miocrosoft XP Home
Edition preinstalled.

Will I be able to install my basic Office 95 application
followed by installation of my Office 97 upgrade
application? Office 95/97 are sufficient for my home uses.

If not, what are my options?

Thanks

The best option in my opinion is to dump Microsoft Office. I've been using
OpenOffice (openoffice.org) for several months and its' terrific. Among
other things, it is incredibly stable and, of course, the price is right.

Or you can download and install openoffice as suggested by the other reply. Of course none of your Office files will work with this program, you will need to learn how to use it, and you will need to download and install an email client that works with open office ie: Mozilla, learn it as well. It is stable as suggested, but so are Microsoft Office products, when you learn to use them correctly.

You don't need to actually install Office 95 AIRC. During the install
of Office 97 it will tell you it cannot find a qualifying upgrade
product. When asked, insert the Off95 CD or the first floppy of the
install floppy set. It will ask (I think) for the Off95 reg key, so see
if you have that handy too.
