Migrating Groove

I am finally migrating my Groove 3.1 company to Groove 2007.

Moving The application seems relatively painless (except for the software
distribution, but that is another topic.)

I also want to move my existing users to Enterprise Services - is there a
way to migrate my Hosted Services (3.1) accounts over?

It's not quite as simple, unfortunately, but there's a KB article on it. See
"How to move a Groove domain from Groove Hosted Management Services 3.1 to
Groove Enterprise Services 2007" at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;945949.

Basically, you'll create an export from the current domain and import the
users into the new one. See the article for full instructions.

Hello:

We are currently running V3. clients with MS hosted accounts

and plan to move to
V2007 clients with our own V2007 ERS and GMS servers

we do NOT want to loose our old accounts/history and don't want to have
the users re-invited in again to their current Groove W/s.

I tried to update one machine, but it told me I had to uninstall groove
3.1 first. thus I backed out
Another group has moved their clients to V2007 but still have the same
v3 hosted servers as us.

they are having security issues i.e. can't d/l .exe and can't do others
things also. That is another reason i have not moved my users yet

We are having our own problems also, When a V2007 person enters a V3 w/s
we (V3.1 clients)loose access to all meeting, web link and calendar TABs.
We get a trap error message that asked yo to send groove support message.

At this point we are stuck with a subset of functionality. The other
tabs are fine The ONLY solution is to reinstall groove and re boot the
machine (;

Anyone else have this issue?
Any suggestion for upgrading other than the MS KB link above?

Hi Walter,

I think you are misunderstanding the effects of two procedures.

Uninstalling Groove does not remove your account or workspaces unless you
choose the option to remove Groove data. If you uninstall Groove 3.1 with
default options, and then install Groove 2007, you will still have the same
Groove account, which will belong to the same workspaces. See "How to upgrade
or migrate your Groove Virtual Office 3.1 account to Groove 2007" at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;932311

If that account is a member of one Groove domain, and the members list of
that domain is exported from the 3.1 management server and imported into a
2007 Groove Server, the account is still the same account. It is the domain
membership of the account that is new, not the account itself. Again,
workspace membership of the account is not affected. You will lose any audit
information from the old groove management server when you move to the new
one, but that's the only thing I can think of that might be described as a
loss of "history".

Your tool problem baffles me. A Groove 2007 user joining a version 3.1
workspace should not change it in any way. A workspace that is created by a
Groove 2007 user will not have the Web Link tool (and some other tools). You
might want to consider opening a Support incident for that issue. I think
tracking down the problem would require more diagnostic information than we
can cover in text. To submit an email request, go here:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&ln=en-us&c1=505&gprid=11630&.

I hope this helps!
