Millennium Edition - Viewers2

Thank you for informing me I was in the wrong location. However, I can not
find the application groups you mention. Also, the latest versions of the
viewers keep asking for a newer edition of Windows to work. I guess an older
version of the viewers is the one I need but I don't know which one since the
description of the downloads don't list Millennium Edition. I am at a loss.
WordViewer generates an error in WordPad and closes WordPad and opens
WordViewer with nothing showing but some box jibberish on the first line of
the page. Excel will open in Works-spreadsheet but I have to select the
sheet and if there is imbedded info, I get nothing at all. Hence, my request
for the viewer. My request if of a serious nature. I am not looking at
files for fun but for the education of my autistic child. Thank you for your
time and consideration. Again, I am sorry that I can not find the correct
application group. Could you please be more specific? Thank you.

Hi

powerpoint viewer at (Windows ME stands for Millenium Edition)
http://tinyurl.com/3nend

however for word & excel viewers i think the following says it all ....
Microsoft Word Viewer 97-2000 is no longer available for download. Word
Viewer 97-2000 has been replaced by Word Viewer 2003 --- and yes, it seems
that it needs windows 2000 or above

.... however, there is a microsoft.public.windowsme.general newsgroup .. if
you post there maybe someone has a copy of the viewer that they downloaded -
if you can't find the group email me direct (julied_ng at hcts dot net dot
au) and i'll chase it up for you

Maybe I'm confused but you don't open the Word viewer in Wordpad or the
Excel viewer in Works Spreadsheet. Both of them would be standalone
executable programs, intended to allow someone to view Word documents or
Excel spreadsheets who otherwise doesn't have software installed capable of
opening those file types. Once you install them by running the executable
file you download, you find them in the Windows program menu. When you run
them from the menu, you can open a .doc (Word) or .xls(Excel) file and read
their contents just as if you had Word or Excel themselves installed
respectively.

Here's a link for the entry page all the discussion groups for the various
MS Office products - you'll notice both Word and Excel are included there in
the menu on the left side of the page ...
