Minor adjustment of text box position/size

Hello,

I have a need to position and size a text box more precisely than what
is achievable by moving the sizing handles with the mouse. I know
there is a way that involves holding a key (Ctrl, Alt or something)
and using the arrow keys but I can't find that information. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Pressing Alt overrides the grid; that may be what you're looking for.
