Missing emails and appointments when Outlook 2000 *.pst imported 2

I have tried with no success to transfer my desktop's Outlook 2000 *.pst file
to my laptop's Outlook 2003 program. I am happy to say the contacts and
settings all imported perfectly, but many of the most recent inbox and
calendar items did not. Is there a compatibility problem here?

Thanks in advance,

Yeah, a bit problem. OPEN the file in Outlook 2003, no need to import a
native outlook file - importing is for translating a non-outlook file to
outlook's format for import.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Don Casto asked:

Thanks for the help, Milly. I did also try opening the Outlook 2000 *.pst
file in Outlook 2003. I even tried replacing the 2003 file with the 2000
file - all with the same missing emails and calendar entries. I am about to
just downgrade the laptop to Office 2000 so that I can keep my *.pst intact
while on the road.

Watch out. You're bound to corrupt your mail profile doing that.

Close Outlook 2000. Copy the PST to some transfer medium or to some network
share the laptop can access. Put the PST on the laptop's HD, taking care to
NOT overwrite any PST of the same name. Make sure the file is not
read-only.

Start Outlook and click File>Open>Outlook Data File. Browse to the
transferred PST, select it, and click OK.
