Missing emails in outlook 2003

I click on Send/Receive and see it download 27 new emails but they are nowhere to be found. They are not in Junk or Deleted. I upgraded to 2003 yest and it worked until this morning. Yest emails are there but none since late last night show

I am not using exchange

Help!
