I was working in Microsoft Excel today. I had 2 spreadsheets open I edited and saved both of them. When I returned to excel and tried to open the files... Both were missing. I have proformed a search on my computer (which is virus free) for all excel files.. The 2 files are no where to be found... Please help if you know of a way to recover the files...

Thanks

Hi Frank,

Thanks, but no.. I have searched everywhere for all spreadsheets that even contain the "text" in the document that I was working on.. They are just gone... I did notice the computer was a little slow when saving both of them, and then afterwards locked up...

Do you know of anyway to recover the files??

Thank you,
Nicole

Did you check the recycle bin (just in case???)

I don't have a way to recover files--Norton used to have utilities that could do
this (if the portion of the disk hadn't been overwritten yet).

But you may want to search once more and look at the dates. Maybe you can look
for files that were saved in the last couple of days.

A search shows this which might help you, but there is a big
difference between restoring a file where 1 byte being incorrect
could get you garbage as opposed to a text file where you might
not miss 3000 bytes. Anyway this was in PC World (2003-09-24).

PC Inspector File Recovery v3.x
http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download.asp?fid=23069&fileidx=1
The ... Recovery v3.x if for hard drives, and Smart Recovery is
for digital camera media, ie. Compact Flash cards, etc.

Let us know if you get your file back. I have recovered files from
Compact Flash but I ran whatever I had used immediately after deleting,
some files were recovered some weren't some were composites of
different pictures, but I did recover the pictures I really needed.
