Missing file MSVCR71.DLL How do I it back and installed.

On restart the message, "A required file, MSVCR71.DLL was not found".
Since I am inable to open any WORD documents,thought this might be the
problem.
I have uninstalled Office 97 numerous times and then reonstalled, but stil
not able to open dovuments. Can open folders that contain documents, but not
the individual files. Also, after I attempt to open a file, and it is
rejected, the Word icon stays in the task bar tray until I manually close it.
Need help.
