missing images when printing to composite cmyk

I have had this problem a couple of times now...
When creating a composite cmyk PDF of a Pub file(using
PUB2003, Distiller 5.0) I have encountered a problem
where an image (in this case an embedded wmf graphic)
will not show up in the PDF. I usually print my
postscript to file, using Distiller driver, and then
distill the file. Just as a test, I made a composite RBG
pdf from the same file, and the graphics that are missing
on the cmyk pdf show up just fine in the rgb pdf.
I tried linking the graphic instead of embedding it, but
that didn't make a difference. However, I was finally
able to get the cmyk file to work correctly by selecting
the graphic, cutting it, then pasting it back into the
document.
Any ideas why this happens?

thanks

Kelly in Pub2002 if you took a WMF and significantly reduced it in size, the
WMF would sometimes fail. Don't know yet in 2003 as I have not tried
Publisher 2003 with that issue.

Some WMF files that have been made by users from draw programs of various
types sometimes have issues and this is not at all uncommon. Some programs
have the ability to export bitmapped image files with vector and save in WMF
which are notorious for troubles. The above issues I have had with programs
other than Publisher.

Thanks for the reply. I also had this problem with
embedded eps graphics. I know that in both instances
where I lost graphics in the postscript/pdf the graphics
had been reduced from original size. So, that may be the
issue here.

Thanks again,

Kelly
