Missing Journal Clock

I am running Windows 7 with Outlook 2007. The journal clock is missing. It is
greyed out. With XP, the clock was there. Is there a way to get it back?

It's just the animation that is broken. The clock itself still works. You'll
see some pixels moving up and down every ones and a while to indicate that
it is still alive.

FWIW: the clock icon has been removed entirely in Outlook 2010. The timer
still functions there as well though.
