Missing MSVCR80.dll when starting Outlook 2007

S

Saj Kumar

I have installed Office 2007 Beta 2 and Outlook 2007 refuses to start up. A
window pops up with the title "OUTLOOK.EXE - Unable To Locate Component" and
the message is "This application failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not
found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem". I have
uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2007 and it does not work

Please help.

Do you have any addins that add an outlook.exe.manifest file to the folder
where Outlook.exe is located? That's one known cause of that problem. Look
for Outlook.exe using Windows Explorer and look for that manifest file. If
it's there rename it or delete it.

That file is no longer necessary since Outlook 2007 will automatically theme
all addins, even those written using VB 6. Most addins will need to be
updated to not place a manifest file if Outlook 2007 is installed.

Which addin was it that put the manifest file there? If it still exists
under a different name open it using Notepad. They author is usually
identified in the manifest file.
