Missing Photo's in Publisher 2003

I am working on a newsletter in Publisher 2003. I had several photo's in the
document. When I closed the document and went back into it at a later time,
all the photo's disappeared. How can I get them back.

I do see under graphics manager that they are showing as a thumbnail, but
they do not show up in the newsletter.
