Missing row indicators

Hello everyone,

Hope you can help me with an odd problem. I have a Master Project Schedule
using Project 2003 Professional as a stand-alone. I have milestones for the
entire project at the top of the list with inserted projects underneath. The
inserted project tasks act as predecessors to the milestones. Strangely
however, when I link the inserted tasks to the milestones, it changes the
task id numbers of the milestones. It does not delete the milestones, but if
they are numbered 1 to 4, then it suddenly shows 2,3,5,6 or something
similiar. Have any of you ever seen this behavior before and if so...how do
I stop it from happening?

Hello Kay,
The missing rows are the external predecessors of your milestones.
In the sub-projects, external predecessors and external successors are
displayed as grey bars. This display is allowed or not in:
Tools / Options / View

Hope this helps,

..Gérard,
Thank you for replying. Certainly what you say is accurate. I am aware that
the successor shows in the sub-project ghosted, but in the master project it
still amazes me that Project changes the row numbering like that. It only
happens when the tasks (Milestone) in the master is a successor vs a
predecessor. When this is published, it will totally confuse the viewer who
is not that familiar with MS Project. I will hear the samae question over and
over again...Why are you hiding rows? Unchecking both external predecessors
and successors, still does not stop the row numbers from changing. But, at
least I can say with confidence that it is the application and not a
corruption. Thanks a million!
