Missing Text from "Reply"

SO far so good on the initial release but I have finally come across a show stopper bug.

SYSTEM - 10.4.11 Intel MacBook Pro Office '08

When hitting reply on some message sent by Office '08 it does not include anything beyond the header of the original message.

OBVIOUS

I do not have anything highlighted which would cause a selected quoting of text in the reply

I have "Include entire message in reply" checked as well as "Place reply at top of message and include From, Date, To, and Subject lines from original Message."

TIDBITS

I run personally on 10.5.1 Intel MacBook Pro Office '08 and do not have the same problem when my wife send me messages from her 10.4.11 computer but from me she can not and has to Fwd to include the entire message body without copying and pasting. All of our settings are identical and use the same outgoing and incoming SMTP serves.

That is about it, thoughts anyone?

I have this happen sometimes when I've clicked in the message body. Are you
getting this consistently on the same message, even if you close and re-open
it? Same senders? Plain text or HTML?

My wife and I both have MacBook Pro's and she is on 10.4.11 (Photoshop reasons) and I am on 10.5.1. We use the same incoming and outgoing SMTP server.

It is a consistent problem and not limited to just one email. Any message I send to her and she reply's to does not have the body of the text in it. However when she sends me a message and I reply to it, there is no problem.

Hope that helps.

I actually am on 10.5.2 and have been for a while now. I stupidly typed 10.5.1 in my previous posts. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem. Not sure what is causing your original problem. Yours is the
first report that I remember seeing.

Normal behavior is to reply using entire message unless some text is
highlighted. Then only the highlighted text is shown in reply.

When it comes to HTML the behavior has not changed but different conditions
apply:

You can either forward it as an attachment or redirect it. Entourage's
editor doesn't allow composition of complex HTML documents such as those
containing tables, so it converts the formatting to simple HTML when
forwarding or replying.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I have been using Office since '98 and this is the first time I have seen this so it is probably an isolated bug. Too many variable to try to nail it down. I will wait for the patch in March and hopefully that will take care of it. It is so weird that it only happens with emails I send to her but not on emails she send to me.

Anyway, thanks for the time!

(if anyone else knows more than we do, feel free to chime in. :) )

@ Adam,

Sorry I didn't see your initial question:

I am getting this every time I hit Reply, the only receipient is myself and it is in HTML format. better version of the flow of the problem is this:

Message is composed on my 10.5.2 computer on Entourage using the same mail domain as my recipient (my wife). She receives the message and hits reply on her computer which is running on 10.4.11 and only the header shows up in the reply. It only happens with my emails and no one else which make it even more odd.

SOLVED

Ok, this is bad. The culprit was the option "Reply to messages in the format they were sent." I turned that off and everything works great now. THat was very odd as we both send messages via HTML. Anyway, thanks for your time everyone!

Hi,

I'd like to follow up on this with you as this issue seems like odd
behavior for Entourage. Please contact me directly at
huchinATmicrosoftDOTcom (please modify accordingly).

Well, after the 12.0.1 update the font issue is still there. There was no increase in the amount of fonts so I still can't figure out why only about 60% of my font library is missing.

@ Hui - No disrespect, but if you are a real support tech or someone with Entourage you should have my registration information and access to my account on this site and should not need me to email you directly. If you wish to contact me about this issue please write me at jrcplanetATrevelealedDOTnet.

Thank you all for your time!

Oh darn it. Please ignore that above post as I thought I was in a different thread. Bah!

I have same problem with Reply or forward messages.

I have ALL updates.

I have to shut down Entourage to fix.

It happens at random and I have found no answer that works.

He applebaby,

Do you mean that we you reply to a mail only PART of the mail you reply to
is in your reply?

If so, look at the signature positioning:

http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/reply.html#reply2

If you have chosen option 2 and have deleted the text in the text box
(include this attribution line) then your symptoms could occur.

Hope this gets you somewhere.

Ivar
