Missing Title Master

The Title Master is visible in View>Master, but does not appear in the
Design Task Pane so that it can be applied to a slide. Any pointers
appreciated. (Office 2003, WinXP Workstations.)

Ridge,
As far as I know this is normal behaviour. Only the slide master(s) appear
in the task pane.

You will only see the slide master in the design pane. To apply a title
master to a slide apply the slide master and then choose the title layout in
the layout pane.

Don't be embarrased - it's not an obvious thing in powerpoint - and you're
not the 1st to ask..

perhaps you do not have a 'title master'

view menu > masters >slide master > press the Page down key

did the master change ?

if it did not then you don't have a title master

insert menu > new title master

now you have a true 'title master'

to apply it to your slides, you need to select the "title slide" as the
"layout"

confusing isn't it?

Ummm, and an additional note my workaround, until y'all got me pointed in
the right direction . . .

I discovered that if I created an insertion point at the very top of the
thumbnail views on the left side of the app window (above the first slide in
the column -- a little tricky to get it there, but do-able) then when I
"insert" a slide, it's a "title" slide. Insert a slide anywhere else, and
it's the regular content master layout. And of course, once the "title"
slide was made, I could move it wherever.

I thought posted a thank you to respondents for your help, but it didn't
seem to have stuck. So I will repeat myself. Thnak you.

Sincerely,

R.
