Missing Tools

I'm rather new to Groove and have liked it so far, but have run into my first
issue and I cannot find a solution. I have a manager role with all
permissions in my groove workspace however I can only add six tools while
other managers have around 13 to add. One manager added a notepad tool which
I need to be able to view but I cannot as I get the following message:

"Usage of this tool is not allowed by your administrator."

I would have thought it was a simple permission issue if it wasn't for the
fact that I then discovered I was missing all those other tools. Any
thoughts?

Hey Kurt,

Here are some things to look at. What version of Groove are you using and
what version are you colleagues using? If you are using Groove 2007 and they
are using Groove Virtual Office 3.1, then there are some tools that will not
be in Groove 2007.

However, the message you are getting seems to indicate that your account is
being managed. That means that you were handed an activation code and had an
account created for you. Now if you are managed, that also means that there
are policies affecting your account which could limit which tools you can
use. If you are managed, the best thing for you to do is to contact the
person who is your Groove administrator and (probably the person who sent
your activation key) and see if they have given your policies that would
restrict tool usage.

Gregg,

I think you nailed it with your second suggestion. When other managers log
on to Groove they are asked every time if they want to have their account
managed and they have to select no. I mistakenly selected yes and now I no
longer am asked that question. Is there anything I can do to reset that
setting or do I have to escalate this up to the Groove administrator?

Thanks again for your help,

Kurt

Hi Kurt,

You will need to contact your Groove Administrator with this.
