Mix Characters

Panos

Hello and Merry Christmas,

I have the following problem: I had created my websites with Pub2003 on my
PC, before few months i copy all my websites (pub files) in my laptop that i
also have Pub2003, the problem is that when i try to change language ( i work
with greek and english languages) i always get this message:

"If you remap your keybord to another character set, you may mix characters
in your publication. This mix of characters may not show correctly in a
browser. If you want to map your keybord to different character set, press OK
to continue. To cancel remapping your keyborad to another character set,
press Cancel."

I always press ok and continue but is very annoying to get this message
every time that i want to change language. Do you know how can i stop this
message?

Thanks
Panos

Merry Christmas Panos,

This is one of those built-in mechanisms in your operating system to protect
you against yourself, and I am not sure there is a way to bypass it or turn
it off. You might post the question in a newsgroup for your operating
system.

The one guess I might make is to set your Publisher file to UTF-8 encoding
if you haven't already. Go to tools > Options > Web tab to find the encoding
options.

Perhaps someone else will have a better answer...

You mean this is not a isuue of Publisher? because i get this message from
Publisher not from Windows.

The encoding is already set in the UTF8.

Hi Panos,

Though you are experiencing the problem while using Publisher I think it has
more to do with Windows and/or perhaps the keyboard driver settings. Perhaps
go to your Control Panel > Regional and Language Options dialog and look for
a setting to change that might stop this irritation. Under the Languages tab
Details > Settings tab and the installed services...what about adding both
English and Greek? Look under the Printer options? I am guessing here, and
that is why I suggested that you might get a better answer if you posted
under a windows group. Sorry...maybe someone else will have a better
response. I am not even sure posting under Windows operating system is the
right place...

Hey Panos, I also looked at tools > options and under the web tab and the
encoding do you have the " always save the web page in the default encoding"
option checked? Perhaps uncheck it? Look under the Edit tab...try some of
the different options. Just other guesses...

Hi David and thanks for your time..i have tried all the mentioned methods but
unfortunatelly none work, i still get this message.

I will try as you said to get an answer from a Windows forum..if i will find
the solution i will post it here, it may be helpful for future questions.

Hi Panos,

Sorry, but thanks for posting back. It may be that this is just one of those
things that you will have to live with. I guess this is one of the downsides
of being bilingual <g>. Most of us never may this kind of switch. Good luck.
