Mobilise/Demobilise indentifier

Say i have an activity which is mobilising five days for three men.

I can clearly add resources to that task, so that i can totalise based on
any number of activities being worked, however what i am struggling to do is
to flag up that on the day they mobilise they will take up three seats on a
helicopter, and likewise when they demob, as any coding i input into MSP will
apply to the entire duration of the task.

Is there a clever way that i can apply a specific resource code to the first
and last day, or is there another better way of doing this?

I’m currently able to identify passengers that travel out and back in one
day using a resource name, however i can’t figure out the best way to do the
above.

Any help gratefully received.

Hello Tricky,

You can modify the amount of work and the work schedule in the Task
Usage view. If you assign the 3 human resources for 40 hours, project
will by default spread the work as 8 hours per day per resource for
the 5 days. You could assign 3 "seat" resources for 16 hours, and
then edit the work in the Task Usage view to 8 hours on day 1 and 8
hours on day 5.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi Julie,

I've been advised a couple of options, of which i've gone with splitting
tasks into three to allow me to code the first day as mobilisation and the
last day as demobilisaton. This gives me the added benefit of being to
correctly allocate the last day, as that had always ended up with other wrong
codings from previous days.

It's a bit more admin heavy, but it means that my data is correct.

Thanks anyway for getting back to me

You're most welcome Richard. I agree splitting the task in 3 is the
optimum answer, but also the most heavily manual.
