Does anyone know if MODI (Microsoft Office Document Imaging) comes in
Office 2007 Basic?

Yes it does, but it is not a default install. In Control Panel Uninstall
Programs {Vista} or Add/Remove Programs {Other versions of Windows}, select
Office and click on Change. Choose Add or Remove Features and install
Document Imaging and also Document Scanning from the Tools folder.
