Modifying default assignment value based on Task category

Hello,

We want to be able to assign resources with a default unti value based on a
value in a task number field - so for example if we set a value in Task Text
Number 1 as 0.5 for Task A, B and C, and the value is set to 0.3 for Tasks
D, E and F, we want to know how this can be assumed to be the default
assignment value when the resource is assigned.

The max units value for each resource will remain at 1.0.

I'd really appreciate any advice anyone may have on this issue.

There is no default method for doing this in Microsoft Project Professional.
Your best approach under these circumstances would be to write a macro in
VBA to perform this operation. Hope this helps.
