Modifying work week with pool

C

Hello all,

I am using a resource pool file with links to several project files. I have
set up the calendar in the resource pool for our company holidays.

If I change an individual resource calendar in the pool, will it be
reflected in all the other files when opened?

If I change an individual resource calendar in one of the project files will
it write this information back into the pool or will it be kept in the
individual file?

Thanks,

CB

Hello CB,

The answer to your question depends upon whether you've selected the
option "Pool takes precedence" or the option "sharer takes
precedence" when you shared the resource pool file with the sharer
files. The default option is "Pool takes precedence". If you've
selected "pool takes precedence" and you change the resource's
calendar in the pool file, the non-working time will be reflected in
each sharer file when the user opens the sharer file.

Click the Help button in the Share Resource's dialog box for
additional information.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie,

I do have "Pool takes precedence" option selected. Your answer to the first
question was what I expected. What about if the change is made in one of the
individual files. Will this change be written back into the pool?

Hi CB,

If a change is written in the sharer file which conflicts with the
pool, the pool "wins".

I'd suggest setting some clear standards within your team that all
resource calendar issues are channeled to a specific person who is
responsible for implementing the change in the pool file and
notifying all parties about the change.

I hope this helps.
