Month names have dissapeared in outlook

I dont know if anyone else has had this problem as I havent been able to find anything in my searches.

A few months ago, Outlook 2003 stopped showing month names and instead showed the month number. This is consistent throughout all the features in outlook. ie June 7 2008 reads 06/07/2008. I have scoured the features and cant find a way to turn month names back on. Its not a huge deal but I am not a numbers person and its annoying to have to think what the month is and count on my fingers 'till I get to the right one.

Strangely enough, I just downloaded the 2007 outlook trial and, lo and behold, the problem persists even in the new outlook (with my old save file which must have carried the problem over)

Does anyone have a clue what has happened? Any remedies?

I think it's actually a Windows setting. You don't mention which OS
you're running but try going into Control Panel | Regional Settings and
I think you may find something helpful there.
