Monthly Database Snapshot - Project Server 2007, SQL Server 2005

I see a similar post on this issue, but it is four years old and I am
wondering if there is a newer or better method now.

Is there a way to get a database snapshot every month? We are using Project
Server 2007 and SQL Server 2005 now. In Project Server 2003 and SQL Server
2000 we used Access to create an offline database backup. Is there a better
way in the newer versions or is Access still the way to go?

If what you want is the whole system backed up, On the SharePoint Central
Administration Web site, on the Operations page, in the Backup and Restore
section, click Perform a Backup.

If you want the projects stored and available, the archive database is the
database used to backup projects to and restore projects from. The projects
will still exists in the Draft and Published Databases.

I should have mentioned that MS Archive process OOTB can only occur each
night, not on demand, which is why we wrote our own tools that does this and
much more.
