Months

Hello,

What is the best way to subtract the number of months
between two dates in excel. Such as counting the number of
months between August 2004 and November 2010. Is their a
formula that you could recommend. I would prefer not to
just divide the difference by 30. I have tried
=Month(cell - cell)
but this will not give you more than 12 months.

Any suggestions.

Try

=12*(YEAR(A2)-YEAR(A1))+(MONTH(A2)-MONTH(A1))

where A2 contains the later date and A1 the earlier one.

Note: the DATEDIF Function is not documented in Excel except for XL 2000.
